This month, we've rolled out a much-requested feature for Reel-Exchange (reel-exchange.com), our demo-reel community site. You can now search geographically by country, state, city, and zip code through the Advanced Search. The site now has members from more than 65 countries and from every state in the union — as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Reel-Exchange is still a month shy of its one-year anniversary, but we did not anticipate this remarkable geographic diversity. Clearly, there was a need for a global resource — and we'll keep building to make it more useful for bringing collaborators, employers, and freelancers together.
We're also seeing an increase in student participation, and one of our more ambitious upgrades currently underway will be targeted to them. Other new features include our Job Board, which debuted last month. Look for more expansion on that platform soon.
Last month, Reel-Exchange held its first live webcast, introducing the members to earning opportunities through ExpertVillage.com. If you missed the webcast, it is archived at digitalcontentproducer.com/webcasts.
We've also entered into a partnership with NAB to give Reel-Exchange members a chance to show their work at the 2008 NAB Show. This year, there will be a new 300-seat content theater as well as multiple video-signage displays and online displays throughout the halls. If you want to be a part of this opportunity — and I hope you will — here's how.
If you're already a Reel-Exchange member, simply add the Association designation “NABSHOW 08” to your profile from the dropdown menu. If you're not yet a Reel-Exchange member, go to the site and join with the promo code NAB08, build a profile indicating NABSHOW 08 in the Association box, and upload your reel.
In addition, to be included in the programming for the content theater, please send the highest-resolution master of your reel available (originals will not be returned) to “Reel-Exchange NAB 2008,” 9800 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS 66212.
