Webcast: Streaming for Video Pros: Flash vs. Silverlight
Jul 24, 2008 12:00 PM
Confused about how Silverlight relates to Flash? Attend this webcast and come with questions.
Although Silverlight has been around for awhile, it’s still hard to pin down. Is it a player, platform or both? Does it replace or coexist with Flash and why and when would you want to use it?
This webcast starts by outlining the roles that Silverlight plays, and how it compares to Flash in each role (you can get a head start by reading this article from the June issue of Digital Content Producer). This summary should take no more than 30 minutes.
Then we open the floor to questions, not just to the presenter and author of the article (Jan Ozer), but to some of the developers quoted in the story, who have worked through the Flash vs. Silverlight decision for their own web site or clients. Ask them why they chose one over the other, and their reasons for doing so.
In 60 minutes you’ll get a good overview of Silverlight and Flash, and hear from actual developers about their respective technology decisions. That should go a long way towards resolving any confusion you may have about the two technologies.
