Things move quickly in the Internet age. It was almost a decade ago that Telestream introduced FlipFactory, which went on to help define a new product category: automated media transcoding.

Now in version 7.0, the app is faster than ever (claimed as up to eight times faster than realtime on one server), works with more formats, and integrates better with post workflows that use Avid and Dolby E.

Anyone involved in large Avid installs will appreciate that FlipFactory now includes ingest and delivery of media files and metadata in and out of Avid TransferManager, along with support for standalone editing systems. Telestream says the product will continue to add evolving format and wrapper variants for XDCAM HD, XDCAM EX, and other codecs.
