New Nuke
It was about one year ago that London-based The Foundry announced it had acquired the Nuke compositing app from Digital Domain. The Foundry is a leader of high-end plug-ins for the effects market. The company makes Furnace, Keylight, and Tinder plug-ins — which Nuke supports. Nuke 5 now comes to market.
While some liked the funky DIY approach of Nuke's original interface, version 5 cleans things up with an entirely new GUI — which, as The Foundry tastefully says, “make it more approachable for a broader range of artists.” Writing custom scripts is crucial for a busy effects house, so the inclusion of Python for scripting will appeal to many. Following the increased interest in 3D feature films, Nuke 5 now supports stereoscopic workflow. www.thefoundry.co.uk
