MXO2

It's pricier, but it does do more: MXO2, Matrox's second-generation all-in-one monitoring, output, and scan-conversion device for the Mac, now does capturing. This makes it more usable in the field because it's so small and lightweight and it can be powered via a battery from Anton Bauer or IDX. Capture includes HD-/SD-SDI, HD/SD analog component, Y/C, composite, and HDMI I/O. The earlier version of MXO gained popularity by its support of QuickTime-based apps that support the V-out component (Apple Final Cut Pro, Motion, Adobe After Effects). In Mastering Mode, the device takes the YUV data before the graphics card has a chance to convert it into RGB. That means there is no YUV/RGB/YUV conversion done, which makes for a better signal if you want to print to tape or broadcast the result.
