MXF-Powered Storage

Mention MXF, and many will think of how Sony and Panasonic, among others, are using the platform-agnostic “wrapper” file format to enable transfers between camcorders and NLEs. Quantum introduces another use: Its MXF-enabled SDLT 600A tape drive with DLTxchange technology offers flexible HD and SD storage at a lower price point.

Based on Quantum's widely used DLT technology, the SDLT 600A system is a network-attached, file-accessible data tape storage drive spec'd for backup, sharing, and archiving of HD, SD, and other data assets. Features include a Gigabit Ethernet interface and built-in FTP, making it accessible to every workstation and server through Windows Explorer and standard browsers. Because it doesn't employ proprietary management software, as do many tape library systems, the cartridges can move between libraries and standalone drives. www.quantum.com
