Taking it to the Clipster

An improved post workflow is one of the attractions of a DI-style approach. New or upgraded DI workstations point this up as they add capabilities such as image manipulation and effects creation on top of the usual DI color grading chores.

DVS Clipster, which debuted in version 2 at NAB, helps better workflow by its improved hardware chops. For starters, the workstation now offers more processing power, as it works in 12-bit 4K RGB, handles 2K RGB 12-bit transitions in realtime, while still delivering realtime conforming and editing.

Other realtime features include primary and secondary color correction, pan-and-scan, rotation, flip/flop, cropping, and transitions. Its OpenFX plug-in interface means there's a huge range of additional third-party effects to choose from. Clipster also uses a realtime 3D look-up table, while also supporting LUTs and color management tools from Kodak and Arri. www.dvs.de
