VP6-S video profile for Flix
Adobe has been dropping interesting hints at all the capability in its upcoming Flash Player 9 update, code-named “Moviestar.” For example, at the company’s MAX 2007 event in October, attendees saw how the new Flash technology will enable Visual Communicator 3 (an upgrade of the former Serious Magic product) to switch and stream live video over the Web via the soon-to-release Flash Media Server 3. Meanwhile, developer On2 Technologies presented upgrades to its Flix product line to support the VP6-S video profile, which will be included in the new Adobe player. This latest version of the video encoding and publishing software will enable HD streaming on the majority of PCs worldwide, according to Bill Joll, president and CEO of On2.
