VC-1 support
While Windows HD video codec was accepted by SMPTE some time ago, it has not turned up in many products you can find on the shelf. At IBC, Envivio addressed that need by announcing that its Convergence Generation headend product will now fully support Microsoft Windows Media Video (VC-1). Positioning itself as a top technology provider of IP video convergence encoding systems, Envivio's stand included the 4Caster C4; the unit is spec'd to deliver multichannel IP encoding simultaneously for both IPTV and Internet TV from the same VC-1 encoder. That means a service provider will only need to invest in one headend rather than two.
