A week before MacWorld 2008, Apple released its new top-of-the-line Mac Pro, a potent machine that employs two of the latest Intel Quad-Core Xeon 5400 processors with next-gen 45nm circuitry — tinier connections that throw off less heat. Meanwhile, a slick internal design offers a cable-free, direct-attach installation system for up to 4TB of internal storage. Finally a new PCI Express 2.0 graphics slot delivers up to double the bandwidth of the today's standard PCI Express connections. Apple — once criticized for limiting the slots of its Pro-class gear — now supports up to four graphics cards in the Mac Pro, which means the box can drive up to eight 30in. displays at once. AJA Video is a small, privately held company, yet the company has become an integral part of Apple's pro-video strategy. At MacWorld, AJA appropriately announced that its lines of Io HD and Kona video-capture and playback cards work with the new workstation.
