NAB 2007

HD harbingers and post workflow solutions.
It's that time of year again — time to check out new gear. The NAB show will draw 100,000 attendees to Las Vegas from April 14 to 19, and from cameramen to colorists, everybody wants to see what's out there for them.
Even limiting our discussion to HD offerings, cameras are getting absolutely tiny on the low end, and they're packing in more and more pixels on the high end. On the postproduction side, advances in computer technology have meant that even the most sophisticated productions can be executed on off-the-shelf hardware. Meanwhile, consolidation within the software industry has meant that suites of gear have emerged, and companies can tout the integration among the related programs that they offer.
Senior contributing editors D.W. Leitner and Dan Ochiva have canvassed the industry to report on both the industry themes and the specific technology offerings from manufacturers that will be exhibiting at NAB. Naturally, most companies save groundbreaking announcements for the show itself (looking your way, Apple and Avid), so check blog.digitalcontentproducer.com/briefingroom/category/2007-nab-newslink for the latest news from The Briefing Room, our ongoing virtual press conference, and be sure to follow our blog from the NAB show floor at blog.digitalcontentproducer.com/nab.
