Janimation Amps Up VFX Workflow with Imagineer Systems' Mocha

When Janimation's VFX artists were approached by a client to complete a television commercial spot with Pleasantville-esque color and visual-effects requirements, they turned to their internal IT manager for some suggestions. Imagineer Systems' recently launched mocha rotoscoping and planar-tracking tool was at the top of the list. The project, a 30-second spot for national distribution, consisted of a 1960s-style family with all characters and backgrounds in black and white. As the spot progresses, elements of color are slowly and individually added to family members until, at the end of the commercial, the entire family is in color, while the background remains black and white. …

Blastwave FX Releases 5.1 Surround-sound Library

Blastwave FX announced the release of its new 18GB high-definition sound-effects library called Revolver. Revolver is the all-in-one collection of 1,000 high-definition 5.1 surround-sound imaging elements, compositions, drones, and trailers created in the critically acclaimed libraries Blastwave, Radio Meltdown, Drones, and Spoilers, all on six DVDs. Each sound was originally recorded at 24-bit 96K, to ensure the highest quality for today's production needs, and then delivered as 24-bit 48K broadcast .wav files.
