If you worry about the bumps a small hard-drive-based video recorder can face on location, recorders using solid-state Flash RAM deserve a look. Fast Forward Video's Mini DVR Pro on-body DVR, for example, is a standalone, pocket-sized DVR that records to non-destructive Flash memory. Measuring 5.2"×0.8"×3.7", the Mini DVR Pro uses scalable MJPEG compression to record its 720×486 pixel images. Powered by four AA batteries, it can record up to two hours at 20:1 compression onto standard Compact Flash cards.
