Faster Storage

It's no secret that the speed of flash RAM technology beats going back and forth to a hard drive for reads and writes. Texas Memory Systems knows that, too. As the self-declared makers of “The World's Fastest Storage,” the Houston-based company has specialized in solid-state systems since its beginnings in 1978, when it sold such storage to the military.

The RamSan-120 might just be the fastest 1U solid-state disk on the market, according to the company's claims, as it delivers some 400MBps of random sustained throughput. The 8GB capacity device, housed in a 1RU chassis, can be used as a front end “bit bucket” for disk-based storage arrays. This greatly improves the response of the total storage system. Meanwhile, Texas Memory says that its version of RAID (redundant array of independent DIMMS) delivers protected memory storage with the system remaining up even when faced with a memory DIMM failure. www.superssd.com
