Almost infinitely reusable. Price: $900

AJ-P2C016RG

Part of the rationale for adopting solid-state storage systems for acquisition was that their capacities would quickly rise as prices dropped. Case in point: Panasonic’s AJ-P2C016RG 16GB P2 card doubles the storage capacity of its predecessor, and it’s listed at $900 (compare to the 8GB card, currently listed at $700). The AJ-P2C016RG is a PCMCIA-compatible plug-in card based on solid-state memory, integrating four high-performance SD cards such as those now used in digital still cameras. P2 cards record about one minute per 1GB at DVCPRO HD rates—which, with a four-slot camcorder and 16GB cards, will now get you more than an hour of recording before you need to offload.
