FS-5

One of the first companies to develop portable hard-drive recorders for camcorders, Focus Enhancements has slowly but regularly brought out updates. At the 2008 NAB Show, the company will introduce the FS-5 — the latest version of its Direct To Edit (DTE) model, which adds metadata capabilities, additional file-format support, and UDF disk formatting. Users will be able to wirelessly add custom metadata via a laptop, smart-phone, or other Wi-Fi-capable device with browser capabilities during recording. Compared to the entry-level FS-4 model, the FS-5 weighs half as much and is 60-percent smaller. Other features include a redesigned user interface, scroll-wheel navigable menu, and support for Material eXchange Format HDV 720p30 and 1080i50/60.
