NAS gained a place in post for offering relatively uncomplicated, centralized storage. Now, ONStor ups the throughput ante to deliver Bobcat 2280, a scalable NAS gateway.
ONStor fits the Bobcat with its new FastPath accelerator chip, said to deliver 40 percent more performance over previous generation Bobcat products, making it ideal for streaming media, content delivery, and large-scale file storage applications, says the company. The device's integrated clustering capability means throughput can grow linearly to 1.2GBs as NAS Gateways are added to the cluster.
The Bobcat series employs a purpose-built hardware platform with 64-bit network processors; the 2280 adds an additional FastPath processor that creates a streamlined data channel within the Bobcat's multiprocessor architecture. www.onstor.com
