More for Linux

As Linux continues to gain adherents in effects production, apps written for other operating systems continue to migrate to this open-source system. Maximum Throughput's Xstoner software is one such example. This client-server software app and network utility allows Autodesk Irix-based (SGI) Discreet Flint and Smoke workstations to offer file access to PC and Mac workstations.

Now, Discreet's Linux-based versions of Flint and Smoke can connect across a network as well. Combined with Max-T's Sledgehammer SD!O or HD!O storage arrays, this enables Macs and PCs to visually browse and transfer SD, HD, and film resolution material that exists on Discreet's workstations. Since the Max-T software allows multiple connections, many users can tap into the frame stores on a facility's Irix- and Linux-based Discreet systems simultaneously, either from within the facility or outside by using the Web. www.max-t.com
