Internet SAN

Building and running a SAN once required considerable engineering chops, but today's software and firmware take care of many of those difficulties. Now, better deals come via connect technologies such as iSCSI (Internet SCSI), which brings more flexibility and lower costs to running a SAN over IP networks.

JMR's Z-IPSAN is a good example. The turnkey SAN builds on an open architecture based upon a stable Linux core. The rackmount system includes dual Xeon processors, iSCSI or Fibre Channel connectivity, and support for up to 16 hot-swappable SATA drives. A graphical interface (Windows or Linux) offers control over the integrated SAN management app. www.jmr.com
