Moving to SATA

SATA (Serial ATA) drive connect technology steadily continues to replace slower ATA as the mass-market connection technology of choice. But what about PCs without integrated SATA controllers, or those with the slower, first-generation SATA?

Addonics offers two products to address that. Its eSATA II PCI-Express controller works with PCI Express bus-based PCs, offering SATA II's 3GBps theoretical throughput. The controller comes with one internal SATA port and one eSATA port (external SATA connection).

The Addonics CardBus eSATA adapter (shown here), meanwhile, delivers those eSATA transfer rates to notebook PCs via the company's CardBus slot. Maximum data throughput is about three times the data transfer rate of USB 2.0, according to the company. www.addonics.com
