In today's post environment, interconnectivity is no longer an option when you buy gear from various manufacturers. Sony does its part by enhancing its DSR series of DVCAM Master Series studio videotape players/recorders with the addition of an integrated i.LINK (FireWire) interface. The upgraded models sport an “A” designation; they will be re-launched at NAB 2005 as the DSR-1600A, DSR-1800A, and DSR-2000A. The DSR-2000A has playback compatibility with consumer DV (both SP- and LP-recorded tapes), DVCPRO (25Mbps), and DVCAM media. It includes a wider digital slow play range (-x1 to x1), improved jog audio, built-in video control (TBC), RS-422 interface, and a built-in timecode generator.
