Triple threat DVD
With proliferating DVD laser standards, it's easy to feel you might be buying something that could be quickly outdated. The new BenQ BW1000 DVD burner/reader offers one solution. Developed by Philips and BenQ Digital Storage (PBDS), it uses Philips' triple-laser optical pickup. These separate blue, infrared, and red lasers share the same optical pathway, providing Blu-ray Disc read/write capabilities, as well as read/write compatibilities with DVD and CD. According to PBDS, the BenQ BW1000 is capable of recording some 50GB on a Blu-ray Disc.
