Niagara GoStream Surf

With digital technology more compact and powerful than ever, compact media production for the Web is taking off. Introduced at NAB Show 2008, the GoStream Surf, ViewCast's new portable Niagara-line encoder, even resembles a portable camcorder hard drive. The self-contained unit — there's no mouse, monitor, or keyboard required — includes a built-in front-panel LCD screen with control buttons and audio-signal level display. Those front-panel buttons activate one-touch, preprogrammable streaming profiles, while a nearby USB port lets you transfer files for storage or to a PC. The Surf captures video and can send multiple full-res streams to PCs and mobile devices in multiple formats at multiple bit rates, all at the same time. Available output formats include MPEG-4, Adobe Flash Live, Windows Media, RealVideo, and uncompressed AVI.
