RAID storage expert Infortrend announced that its EonStor S12F-G1420 4Gb Fibre-Channel-to-Serial-Attached SCSI (FC-4G-to-SAS), single-controller RAID subsystem has passed qualification testing with the SD|Greed, HD|Lust, and HD|Fury video I/O cards from Bluefish444, a division of Bluefish Technologies. The ES S12F is certified for use in broadcast-quality applications such as postproduction, HDTV, 2K film, digital cinema, near-line digital content, and broadcast server archives.
Bluefish Technologies is a technology and market leader in the field of high-definition (HD) and standard-definition (SD) digital video content creation and broadcast. The Bluefish444 brand produces 10- to 16-bit uncompressed SD, HD and 2K capture cards for Windows XP, Mac OS, and Linux. Used to create more than 100 Hollywood feature films, including several Academy Award winners, Bluefish444 video I/O cards deliver the highest standard in capture, playback, and broadcast in any format. There are currently thousands of OEM solutions using Bluefish444 hardware such as DI, capture/playout servers, clip/still stores, and CGs in broadcast and postproduction facilities all over the world.
Certification of the ES S12F was completed in September 2006 and plans are underway to qualify other EonStor arrays as well. The Bluefish444 report on the testing environment and performance results are available at www.infortrend.com.tw/main/2_product/s12f-r-g1420.asp.
“Serious digital video professionals choose Bluefish444 products because they deliver superior results for all digital post and broadcast requirements at significantly lower cost,” says Paul Cameron, product support manager at Bluefish444. “The EonStor S12F has met our stringent testing criteria so we can confidently recommend this RAID storage array to streamline workflow and satisfy the need for increased bandwidth for realtime, high throughput video.”
“Our EonStor subsystems are known for providing high-performance, high-reliability data storage,” says Tony Chu, president of Infortrend. “Film and postproduction companies using Bluefish444 cards will appreciate the S12F’s AV optimization mode that helps guarantee sustained, no-dropped-frames performance. Storage-hungry applications can cost-effectively pack up to 9TB of data into a single array using the latest 750GB SATA hard drives.”
