Better audio
The first portable, professional-quality digital audio recorders delivered remarkable quality and ease of use. But the prices kept all but the well-heeled at bay. Now, however, companies like Edirol, with its new R-4 digital recorder, offer innovative audio gear at prosumer prices. The R-4 combines a 4-channel, 24-bit/96kHz recorder along with a wave editor in a compact 2.5lb. chassis. Features include a built-in limiter, five different dynamic processors, 3-band parametric EQ, 6-band graphic EQ, and a noise gate. The four XLR/phone combo jacks come with switchable phantom power and a choice of mono, stereo, stereo x2, or four-channel recording. Digital I/O is also provided.
