While it can be useful to have separate sets of audio gear for field production and studio use, moving between wireless and wired setups means that you often need to keep double the number of microphones on hand. Audio-Technica provides a solution with its AT8539 power module, which allows any of the company’s “cW” Wireless Essentials mics with 4-pin locking connector to be used in a wired configuration. Moving a wireless mic to a wired setup is necessary, of course, when moving to a highly congested RF environment or on those occasions when battery packs run low.
