Oregon3D (Portland, Ore.), The Center for Visualization Technologies announced that Discreet has appointed Oregon3D as an authorized training center for Discreet 3ds max, combustion 2, flint, flame, and smoke. The only independent training center in the United States to offer courses on Discreet flint, flame, and smoke, Oregon3D's premier facility provides a collaborative learning environment for a variety of courses in 3D animation, special effects, compositing, editing, and realtime image generation.

"The people at Oregon 3D spent years researching and developing the center before they launched," says Diane Duffey, Discreet's manager of training and educational programs worldwide. "They wanted perfection and they got it, and they more than exceeded everyone's expectations. We so are excited to add them to the Discreet Training Center Network."

Taught by Discreet-certified instructors Mark Noland, Phil Guzzo, and industry-acclaimed professionals, such as Gary M. Davis, Oregon3D's instructors bring real-world production and problem-solving experience to the classroom. Typically consisting of four or five days of intensive, hands-on training, these courses go beyond the theory of operation to integrate course work with real-life storyboarding, postproduction, and project management practices.

"It is extremely rare to find a training facility with the commitment of Oregon3D," says Gary M. Davis, nationally renowned certified Discreet training specialist. "Having had the privilege of training in six different countries, I have seen many different facilities, but none compare with the training center at Oregon3D. It truly is state-of-the-art across the board. Oregon3D is equipped for instruction on literally any graphics application out there. The sky is the limit with a facility like this one!"

Equipped with an SGI Onyx 3200 supercomputer, 24 high-end graphics workstations and a six-station Octane systems lab, Oregon3D provides the working environment and equipment used by professional creative artists in the film, game, television, and visualization industries.

Prices for Oregon3D classes range from a one-day introduction to 3ds max for US$250 to a five-day advanced flint, flame, or smoke course for US$2,500. For class registration and additional information, visit www.oregon3d.com or contact Oregon3D at its toll free number (866)626-9100.

Oregon3D's 8,000-square-foot facility provides students with the opportunity to learn in a creative environment using state-of-the-art hardware and software. Oregon3D is also the only facility in the region to provide a 3D-visualization service bureau that allows clients to access an immersive display wall driven by the latest supercomputing technology from SGI, including an Onyx 3200 based Reality Center.
