NY DV Show Offers One Free Class

The New York DV Show, being held this February 12-13, 2002, at The Manhattan Center in the New Yorker Hotel, is offering one free conference session to attendees.
To help give you a fuller flavor of the total event and to maximize the value of your time at The New York DV Show on Tuesday, February 12 or Wednesday, February 13 (as per your registration) – you can add 1 free class from the Tuesday, Wednesday or even Thursday 75-session day program. Take this class in addition to the already action-packed series of festivities we’ve lined up for you. Simply pick up your free class ticket on the Expo floor upon your arrival either Tuesday or Wednesday. Already over 4,000 hard-core pros have signed up for some portion of The NY DV Show.
Conference seating for the FREE SESSION is limited and will be assigned on a first come first serve basis. Come early and stay late!

Tuesday, February 12 11:15am-12:15pm Learn directly from legendary movie editor Thelma Schoonmaker. She reveals her secrets and technical approaches of editing some of her famous movies. Her filmography includes Gangs of New York, Casino,Kundun, The Age of Innocence, Cape Fear, GoodFellas, New York Stories, The Last Temptation of Christ, The Color of Money, After Hours, Raging Bull, The King of Comedy among many others.
12:30-1:45pm Avid’s Luncheon Bash – have lunch on Avid as they introduce you to Avid Xpress DV3 and a sneak peek of this technology on a Mac.
12:30-7:30pm Expo opens – Shop and buy products from nearly 100 DV vendors - software and hardware - and pick it up across the street at the B&H store. Enter raffles and get product giveaways including a $300 discount for Avid Xpress DV.

When the sun goes down, the action picks up. Final Cut Pro User Meeting sponsored by ProMax. Join us for the largest FCP user group meeting ever on the East Coast. Enjoy food and drinks while hearing from Tom Wolsky, author of "Final Cut Pro 2 Editing Workshop”, who will demo offline RT in FCP 3.0. Cawan Starks, SD and HD guru, presents the KONA-SD 10 bit, RT uncompressed video capture card. Volume 2 of the “CGM filters and transitions for FCP” from developer Klaus Eiperle will have its world premiere. In fact, Eiperle will fly in from his home in Germany to show them off. Meet Daniel Rubin, Graphics Designer for HBO Studio Productions whose recent project was Spike Lee's A Huey P. Newton Story. Acclaimed film editor, Chris Tellefsen, ACE presents a workshop using scenes from his films, Birthday Girl, Analyze This, Man on the Moon. He discusses the difference between crafting and shaping, comedy and drama, studio and indie films.
5:45-7:00pm Case Study - The Making of Chelsea Walls Hosted by Indigent’s co-founder Gary Winick, key crew members such as motion picture star Ethan Hawke (Director), Richard Rutkowki (Cinematographer) and Rick Butler (Production Design) share their valuable insights and lessons learned in the making of Chelsea Walls scheduled for April 2002 release. Chelsea Walls is a feature film, shot in digital video on a $150,000 budget. The film stars Kris Kristoferson, Steve Zahn, Natasha Richardson, Uma Thurman, Vincent D¡¯Onofrio and Tuesday Weld. Indigent is overseeing the production of 10 films shot on DV that will be released both theatrically and as a series on the Independent Film Channel. The films include Tadpole, Tape and Personal Velocity.
