The new Hollywood Post Alliance has been established to represent the broad interests of the postproduction industry in Southern California. "The Hollywood Post Alliance has been created to serve an industry in transition," says Leon Silverman, HPA president and executive vice president of Laser Pacific Media Corporation. "During these times of tremendous technological and economic challenges and opportunities, the entire postproduction industry can be best served by learning and working together."

Unlike previous postproduction organizations which focused solely on service companies, the Hollywood Post Alliance provides an umbrella organization for the more than 15,000 people working in all aspects of the industry in Southern California. The new alliance will also represent and support postproduction issues nationally through its online presence, Technology Retreat, and other regular events, and by its ongoing work with other entertainment industry organizations.

The Alliance brings together both companies and individuals from across the wide spectrum of the postproduction industry. Studios and networks, as well as their service industry vendors, technology manufacturers, and the men and women who have made their careers in postproduction as executives, associate producers, supervisors, coordinators, or in technical and creative positions will find a home within this new Alliance. In addition, the many organizations that collaborate with or support the postproduction industry will also be welcomed into the HPA.

HPA provides a place for all to meet, in a regular and structured environment, to learn from each other, and to address issues relevant to the industry in the areas of business, technology, education, and advocacy. Silverman says, "By joining forces with the entire community of interests in post production, a larger voice as well as an ongoing forum for our industry can be established."

In addition to providing networking and educational opportunities, the Alliance also provides the infrastructure for membership peer groups to address their own specific needs within the industry.

The Hollywood Post Alliance's focus on creating events that tackle the important issues of the day is epitomized by their sponsorship of the highly regarded Technology Retreat. Considered by many to be one of the most significant technology events of the year, over 150 top industry technology professionals from across the country and Europe attended this event, held in Palm Springs in February.

HPA Reception on August 14
Coming in August, the Alliance marks their official launch with a kick-off reception. This is an opportunity to meet and hear more about the group and to network with the local post community. On hand for the occasion will be the founding members and other top leaders in the post industry who have provided their expertise to the organization of the Hollywood Post Alliance. The event is a must-attend for postproduction professionals who want to understand how to further their knowledge, career, and contacts in an industry undergoing dramatic change.

The Hollywood Post Alliance launch reception will be held at the new Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica, Calif. on Wednesday, August 14. For an invitation to the event or further information on HPA and membership, visit www.hpaonline.com or call Eileen Kramer at (626) 799-1733.
