NAB Revamps its Digital Video Production Workshop for the NAB2002 Show
Dec 4, 2001 12:00 PM
The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB)announced has teamed with the Digital Video Professionals Association (DVPA) to create the new NAB2002 Digital Video Production Workshop (DVPW) to be held April 6 & 7 in Las Vegas.
After surveying attendees from last year's DVPW, NAB has decided to join forces with DVPA and media partner Videography to create a program that better meets attendees' needs. The NAB2002 DVPW will stray from the traditional lecture-type sessions and bring the attendees and experts together with "how-to" sessions and hands-on activities. The Workshop will address the nuts and bolts of successful video production, including lighting techniques for digital video, digital audio for video encoders, encoding and compression for the Web and DVD authoring.
The Workshop will include a Digital Video Solutions Area where attendees can meet one-on-one with vendors to find solutions to their DV concerns. DVPA is also offering an incentive for those who register for the Workshop that includes a one-year membership in the DVPA and the DVPA Stock Video Footage Collection Volume 1, with more than $1,000 worth of full quality, full-resolution video clips from the major stock libraries, including EyeWire, ArtBeats, Dynamic Graphics, Corbis Images, EyeIdea, and Digital Juice.
"New ground is being broken daily in the digital video production industry," said NAB Vice President of Science and Technology John Marino. "That is why we're so excited about our partnership with DVPA. They will take the DVPW to a new level, and bring what our attendees have asked for - more hands-on experience, guidance from the experts and an environment where all can increase their knowledge and skills."
"I am very excited about the new direction that the DVPW is taking this year," said Rod Harlan, Executive Director of the DVPA. "This conference is directly aimed at meeting the needs of Digital Video professionals around the world. The combined resources of the NAB, DVPA, and Videography magazine will make this the best training opportunity of the year."
The Digital Video Professionals Association (www.DVPA.org)is a community of new media professionals and enthusiasts that provides membership to all those who are involved as visual communicators using digital media.
NAB2002 takes place April 6 - 11 in Las Vegas (exhibits open April 8).
