NAB2004 combines training opportunities with a massive exhibit floor filled with the latest technologies.

In addition to hosting the annual NAB show, the National Association of Broadcasters is a full-service trade association that promotes and protects free, over-the-air local radio and television stations' interests in Washington, and around the world. NAB is the broadcaster's voice before Congress, federal agencies, and the courts. NAB also serves a growing number of associate and international broadcaster members.

The NAB show itself has enjoyed explosive growth over the last decade. In 1992, the show attracted 54,000 attendees. By 1997, attendance had topped 100,000. Today, it is the world's leading showcase for content creation, management, and delivery tools, trends, and technologies for television, radio, film, audio, video, streaming media, satellite, and telecommunications.

Although a struggling economy and concerns over terrorism have taken their toll on the trade show business the last couple of years, NAB has continued to attract large crowds. This year the show is expected to attract more than 90,000 attendees from more than 130 countries as well as more than 1,000 exhibitors.

In addition to the NAB Post|Production World Conference, the NAB show also includes a number of additional conferences, including the Broadcast Engineering Conference, the New Media Professionals Conference, and the Television Management Conference.

Other key events scheduled for this year's show include the presentation of the 2004 Distinguished Service Award to Oprah Winfrey during the NAB2004 All-Industry Opening Ceremony on Monday, April 19. Also that day, FCC Commissioners Kathleen Abernathy, Michael Copps, Kevin Martin, and Jonathan Adelstein will discuss regulatory issues facing broadcasters during "The Regulatory Face-Off" event. Among other things, the commissioners will discuss media ownership issues and the transition to digital television and radio.
