Cheaper mo cap to empower Machinima engine

At Siggraph, San Jose, Calif.-based Reallusion announced plans to move iClone Studio, its template-based Machinima software, to a higher level. The new iClone 3.0 Studio, due to release early next year, will include an enhanced realtime engine, higher resolution (to 1080p), enhancements such as realtime reflection and refraction, and the ability to work with a new generation of lower-cost mo-cap hardware from Great Britain-based Animazoo.

While prices on the new mo-cap system haven't been announced, Reallusion claims the new price point would make it cost efficient enough to deliver a system capable of creating a "mo-cap studio in a cubicle." The new-version software also offers multicamera support and improved water, terrain, and atmospherics rendering—making it ideal for previz.www.reallusion.com
