Kodak Vision3

Film gets better

When Kodak bothers to change to a new version — or Vision number, in Rochester-speak — you know the company feels it must have something special.

That's pretty much the case with the new Kodak Vision3 500T Color Negative Film 5219/7219. If they compare it to its 5218/7218 Vision2 siblings, cinematographers might appreciate that the film offers increased exposure latitude and color detail in extreme lighting conditions. At a demo screening, grain was noticeably reduced in the 35mm blowup of a 16mm original. Unlike even the best digital-imaging technology, well-exposed 5219/7219 shows many stops more of detail — especially in the brightest highlights and darkest shadows. www.kodak.com
