Band Pro Film & Digital announced it was buying a small startup operation that will supply the company with custom accessory-mounting gear, initially for the Sony F23 CineAlta line. Its full name, Solid Design Powered by Band Pro, is a mouthful, but the product line — at this point, anyway — is pretty simple: Quicksessories offer a new design for universal camera baseplates that are said to be more flexible than current offerings while easily integrating with equipment from other manufacturers. The first product by Solid Design's Carlos Acosta — the “Waffle” universal mounting plate — replaces the standard Sony spacer plate, provides support for standard 15mm lightweight iris support rods, and it comes with 6-pin registered accessory mounts for positioning on either side of the camera. www.bandpro.com
