Quantel

Busy Quantel

Quantel seems to be on a furious pace for product development.

Just a few of the many items announced: The Neo color-correction control panel provides a clean, simple panel to sit in front of with even the choice of colors and the product feel on the buttons seemingly chosen to soothe eyes and fingers over long projects. Dedicated one-touch controls for all major functions help simplify menus — no going through multiple levels of dropdowns.

New double-speed ingest from Sony's HDCAM SR means less time loading files into Quantel iQ DI and Pablo. Genetic Engineering, meanwhile, gains TIFF virtualization (this format can now be accessed along with DPX files); 3D LUT burn-in (create a wide variety of looks but without rendering additional file copies); and remote I/O (connected workstations can delegate I/O to another one on the network, allowing an editor or colorist to continue working yet have files ready when needed). www.quantel.com
