DVC's portable recording solution

Whether for low-end camcorders or high-end digital cinema cameras, portable recording turned up again and again on the show floor this year.

While DVC made its name for building workstations for HD and 2K post, the company has now tapped into R&D by the renowned Fraunhofer Institute to develop Boxxster, a compact and relatively lightweight uncompressed disk recorder and encoding station for MPEG-2 and JPEG 2000. Its QuickClip software platform allows VTR emulation — while including other disk-recorder functions such as playlist, loop-mode, clip management, and batch-recording. It can be controlled over IP networks via various broadcast protocols and even animation systems. www.digitalvideo.de
