Laird's solution for SAN storage

Using existing commodity networking technologies such as Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) is one way to keep storage simple and relatively cost-effective. That's Laird Telemedia's approach with its LairdShareHD, a SAN storage network that uses a standard GbE local network to connect editing workstations. There's no SAN software required, and the setup can play back eight streams of DVCPRO HD media or a claimed 24 streams of DV25. Designed to be plug-and-play for Apple Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere users, LairdShareHD prices at $21,000 for 12TB of storage. The RAID 6 system can be expanded up to 48TB. www.lairdsharehd.com
