Critical projection

The market has no lack of projectors that handle 1080p, but few are designed for the color-critical applications so important to post facilities. Norway-based Projectiondesign's new Cineo3+ is different — apart from offering a 0.95in. 1920×1080 DC3 DMD chip from Texas Instruments (TI), the projector also incorporates color technologies that make it promising as a key element in a DI workflow.

The Cineo3+ uses TI's BrilliantColor technology and Projectiondesign's own proprietary RealColor system, claimed to simplify color management, calibration, and setup. In addition, the projector features a full REC709 (HDTV) color gamut. For digital cinema applications, a full DCI-compliant color gamut is available. The Cineo3+ is rated at 3500 ANSI lumens of brightness and 7500:1 contrast.
