Color decisions from set to post

The American Society of Cinematographers' color decision list (CDL) format might help spark a new style of filmmaking, as it allows color decisions made onset to transfer more easily to post color correction.

At IBC 2006, Pandora launched a new tool to take advantage of the CDL format, which tracks nine color parameters, allowing color balances to be matched across systems from different vendors. Directors and DPs will be able to set the basic desired look for a shot so that it could be recreated downstream during dailies previews and as an initial correction for the DI process.
