Matchmoving gets 3D help

To date, most matchmoving software has pretty much done just that alone. Now, with the release of Boujou 4 from 2d3, this pioneering automated tracker fits better into today's production scheme with its ability to work with 3D models.

For example, if there isn't much parallax in a shot, solving a match move can be difficult. But because Boujou 4 can import 3D models, the correspondence between feature tracks and the faces of a polygon mesh allows you to solve the tracking.

Another new capability — creating a virtual 3D mesh — saves time by allowing you to create 3D terrain or surfaces on which to cast shadows. www.2d3.com
