Audio interface

Anyone in search of a capable, flexible audio I/O device for their Mac or Windows computer might consider Mark of the Unicorn's 828mkII. While Motu's compact FireWire audio interface fits into a single 1RU rack, the setup still includes 20 simultaneous inputs and 22 outputs, 24-bit 96kHz operation, eight-bus monitor mixing, front-panel mic/guitar/instru-ment inputs with preamps and sends, SMPTE timecode sync, and MIDI input/output. Features include built-in CueMix DSP monitor mixing; front-panel programming via six rotary encoders and a 2×16 backlit LCD display; and AudioDesk (workstation software for the Mac OS with 24-bit recording/editing and 32-bit automated mixing/processing/mastering).
