Do-all NLE

Some producers like to have it all. In the nonlinear editing world, that's the path Canopus took with the release of Edius in early 2003. The NLE offered editors a range of DV and MPEG editing and effects, as well as DVD production. Now Edius version 2.0 adds even more complex methods to edit, mix, and output DV, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, and uncompressed video, and that's with realtime, render-free operation. Included is Inscriber's TitleMotion package, which creates graphics, video titles, and motion effects. Working in MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 for output to DVD? MPEG editors also enjoy realtime editing, effects, compositing, keying, transitions, and titles. For more on Edius, see Steve Mullen's review in the December issue of Video Systems or visit videosystems.com.
