Streaming encoder
At NAB 2004, ViewCast demonstrated its Niagara PowerStream encoder that delivers streaming video to mobile/handheld devices with Intel PXA27x processors. Based on Intel XScale technology and the Intel 2700G multimedia accelerator, the Niagara streaming systems support encoding of Windows Media 9 and RealVideo 10, in addition to MPEG-4. The NAB demonstration consisted of the Niagara PowerStream in the ViewCast booth encoding live material to MPEG-4 video in Windows Media format and delivering the content by way of an 802.11b wireless network to various handheld devices. The mobile devices accessed the live and on-demand material through a web-based interface with Windows Media Player.
