Lower-cost HD editing

Although HDV editing now comes with a lower start-up tab, some of the first NLEs don't support all the techniques editors have grown used to in the latest SD NLEs. Canopus claims it delivers those longed-for tools with Edius HD. This resolution-independent software and hardware combo allows editing of Sony's higher-quality HDCAM format. Canopus claims the new HD NLE won't be expensive, while offering a realtime turnkey editing solution built around the company's codec expertise. Besides a newly designed HD-SDI card, Edius HD includes new Edius Pro video editing software with realtime HD capabilities, mixed SD and HD editing on the timeline, and Canopus' advanced HD codec technology.
