At the recent IBC show, Fujinon introduced new HD lenses designed for 1/2in. CCD cameras—which, at this point, means Sony's two XDCAM HD units. These high-end entries join six other 1/2in. HD lenses from Fujinon. As the names suggest, the HSs18×5.5BERM-D38 and HSs18×5.5BERD-D38 feature an 18X zoom range and a wide angle of 5.5mm (64-degree angle of view). Focal length range is 5.5mm-100mm, and at 100mm the maximum relative aperture is 1.8. The lenses are available with 2X extenders, which makes the focal length range 11mm-200mm. The lenses can accept Fujinon lens controllers and wide-angle or telephoto adapters.
