JVC Professional Products Company has announced an agreement with Scripps Television Station Group to provide ProHD cameras and accessories as part of Scripps’ plan to upgrade all of its television stations to HD. ?

?Under this agreement, Scripps will purchase more than 150 GY-HD250 ProHD camcorders, more than 150 BR-HD50sProHD recorder/players, more than 300 DR-HD10060G HD hard disk recorders, and approximately 100 DTV monitors. This announcement follows the Fall 2006 purchase of JVC GY-HD250s by WXYZ-TV, the Scripps ABC-affiliate in Detroit. WXYZ-TV upgraded its local news coverage to HD on Oct. 4, 2006, and used the GY-HD250s for its HD coverage of the November election. ?

?“Our industry is in the midst of a major technical upgrade to high definition," says Scripps Vice President of Engineering Michael Doback "JVC’s ProHD products enable Scripps stations to provide local news coverage-including remotes-in HD. This is the right solution at the right time and at the right price.” ?

?Scripps chose JVC’s ProHD after extensive evaluation of leading manufacturers HD systems. Scripps selected JVC’s ProHD product line because of its full HD quality and its cameras compact shoulder form-factor, interchangeable professional broadcast lenses, dual media workflow, and the ability to do live remotes via the camera’s built-in encoder. Additionally, JVC will provide a service facility with prompt turnaround, web-based support for Scripps’ technicians, and technical and user training. ?

?“JVC is honored that EW Scripps Television Station Group, a prominent broadcasting company, has chosen to adopt our ProHD technology in its 10 owned-and-operated stations,” says Robert Mueller, executive vice president and chief operating officer, JVC Professional Products Company. “This sale marks an industry first and is a true testament to our technology. Scripps purchase of our ProHD products positions JVC as a major supplier to the broadcast industry. Their adoption of ProHD will confirm the ease of integration from SD to HD for major groups and stations across the country.” ?

?All Scripps broadcast television stations will be upgraded to JVC’s ProHD. ABC-affiliate stations: KNXV-TV Phoenix; WFTS-TV Tampa, Fla.; WMAR-TV Baltimore; WXYZ-TV Detroit; WCPO-TV Cincinnati; and WEWS-TV Cleveland. NBC-affiliate stations: WPTV-TV West Palm Beach, Fla; WSHB-TV Kansas City, Mo.; and KJRH-TV Tulsa, Okla. Independent station: KMCI-TV Lawrence, Kan.
