More than 10 years ago, Ikegami's Editcam was one of the very first tapeless, hard drive-based camcorders; its co-development with Avid meant shooters could easily connect to the Tewksbury, Mass.-based company's NLEs. Now, Ikegami has employed Telestream's new Flip4Mac digital media import tool to offer file compatibility and direct file transfer of MXF media into Apple Final Cut Pro systems, with such features as metadata support and the ability to view keyframes. Ikegami's Editcam, now in its third generation with the DNS-33W Editcam3, is a 520,000-pixel CCD camcorder that records to either hard drive FieldPak or solid-state RAMPak media. The new HDN-X10 Editcam HD DNG camera system uses Avid's DN×HD codec to record full 1920×1080 HD-resolution images to FieldPaks.
