With the plethora of small camcorders available, there always seems room for another stabilizer to check out. After all, finding the right fit is a matter of taste, so it pays to be open. Manfrotto joins this increasingly crowded market with ModoSteady, which combines the benefits of a camcorder stabilizer, shoulder pod, and tabletop tripod at a pretty reasonable price point. The device allows you to float the camcorder à la Steadicam (sort of, anyway)—or, with a little adjusting, it turns into a shoulder brace or a tabletop tripod.
