While partners Toshiba and Ikegami have shown various configurations of the latter's flash-based HD ENG gear, at October's HD World in New York, Ikegami demo'd what it called final shipping models. The flash-based GFTM series, which benefit from Toshiba's expertise in designing and manufacturing rugged flash RAM field modules, includes the GFCAM HDS-V10 tapeless camcorder. Realizing it's a small manufacturer that can't hope to move buyers into one or another codec arena, Ikegami trumpets its open-codec HD/SD architecture and ability to integrate into the types of standardized IT networking setups found in the broadcast and post industries.
