SolidTape cartridges

At NAB, Hitachi announced that its line of tapeless acquisition media would expand to include solid-state Mediapac cartridges. Joining Hitachi's existing hard drive-based cartridges for its Z-DR1 recorder, the solid-state SolidTape cartridges come in 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB sizes. A 24GB version is expected this month, and 32GB later in the fall. Hitachi claims that its recording devices, which connect to its Z-series cameras, are more expandable than other tapeless recording schemes because the SolidTape form factor accommodates space increases for more storage.
